Is the EU still an attractive club to join?
Clearly not for Iceland, where on Saturday, voters rejected restarting membership negotiations with the bloc. Norway and Switzerland are also in no hurry to join anytime soon.
It is a very different story when you look eastward, however, where the waiting room of hopefuls appears to be getting ever more crowded.
In addition to the Balkan and Eastern European states such as Ukraine and Moldova, Armenia has just declared that it will apply to join the EU. Getting closer to the EU means leaving the Russian sphere of influence, where it has been for the last 200 years.
Tune in to Wider View from Brussels, where host Marcin Zaborowski, TVP World’s Europe Editor, is joined by Rikard Jóźwiak, Europe Editor at RFE/RL, and Shota Gvineria, Senior Fellow with the Delphi Global Research Center, as they explore Armenia’s reasons behind its Brussels pivot and how Moscow is reacting to Yerevan slipping from its grip.
