The NPA in Gauteng has welcomed the sentences handed to Bellarmine Mugabe, son of former Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe, and his co-accused, Tobias Matonhodze.
The Alexandra Regional Court sentenced Mugabe to 24 months imprisonment or a fine for pointing a toy firearm in a separate incident before the Hyde Park shooting in February.
Meanwhile, Matonhodzhe, his cousin, was sentenced to three years' imprisonment for attempted murder for the Hyde Park incident and further handed a total of three years' jail time for three other charges.
Mugabe is at the airport being processed ahead of his deportation.
