Eskom doubles profit after ending load-shedding

Eskom has recorded a R30.3-billion profit for the 2026 financial year, more than doubling the R14-billion profit achieved in 2025.

The state-owned power utility announced its group annual results for the period ending 31 March 2026, marking its second consecutive year of profitability.

The financial turnaround was primarily driven by higher electricity tariffs and a significant reduction in diesel spending for open-cycle gas turbines.
