KwaZulu-Natal Hawks officer Lt-Colonel Deenadayalan Govender will be required to give evidence in an open hearing at the Madlanga Commission.
This comes after his bid to have parts of his testimony heard behind closed doors was rejected by the commission.
During Govender's previous appearance, allegations surfaced that Police Minister Mchunu had asked him to "throw KZN's top cop, Lt-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, under the bus" regarding police shootings — an allegation the Minister denies.
To help us unpack the significance of today's testimony and what it could mean for the wider investigation, we're joined by an Independent policing and crime analyst, Dr Mxolisi Mathebula.
