Impact of weight loss drugs on mental health

The use of weightloss prescription drugs is on the rise. Most of these drugs are licensed for type 2 diabetes and chronic weight management for people diagnosed with obesity.

Psychiatrists are now warning about the possible mental health impacts.

The South African Society of Psychiatrists says not enough is known about their impact on brain function.

It says users should pay as much attention to mental health, just as much as they do to physical transformation.
