Uganda scientists warn of drug-resistant malaria

Malaria is one of the world's oldest and most persistent infectious diseases.It spreads by mosquitoes and can usually be treated with medicines that kill the parasite in the blood.

But scientists in Uganda have identified malaria parasites carrying genetic changes that could make some of these drugs less effective.
