Women's Month | Rural women shoulder social burden of poverty

Many South African rural women face pervasive challenges. They include high levels of poverty, deeper inequalities, high unemployment, and inadequate access to essential services such as healthcare, water and proper sanitation.

This is despite South Africa being lauded for having some of the most progressive laws and policies intended to advance women's rights and gender equality.
