Minister of Social Development faces allegations

The Chairperson of Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Social Development, Bridget Masango, says as part of its oversight responsibility, the committee will formally request a full briefing from the Minister of Social Development, Sisisi Tolashe, to respond to the serious allegations published by Daily Maverick yesterday regarding her conduct.

This follows allegations that a worker appointed and paid through the Department of Social Development was allegedly deployed to perform duties at a private residence, while also being forced to hand over a significant portion of her salary to a member of the minister's family.

Tolashe is currently facing an outcry on reports that she allegedly did not declare two SUV vehicles received as donations from the Chinese Embassy.
