Jomo Sibiya and Dada Morero lead joint blitz inspection at construction sites across Joburg

Almost 90 undocumented migrants have been found at a construction site in Sunninghill, north of Johannesburg, during a multi-disciplinary blitz operation.

Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Jomo Sibiya and Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero are leading the inspection to enforce compliance with labour and other applicable laws.

The operation targets businesses accused of violating the Labour Relations Act and employing undocumented workers.

Authorities say the inspections are aimed at ensuring businesses comply with labour, immigration and municipal by-laws.

The crackdown comes amid growing concerns over non-compliance at various businesses across Johannesburg.
