Westbury has long been plagued by gang-related crime and violence, making it one of South Africa's troubled communities.

In March, President Cyril Ramaphosa authorised the deployment of the South African National Defence Force to work alongside the SAPS in the area under "Operation Prosper" — in a bid to tackle the scourge of violence.

But months on, has the operation made a meaningful impact, and has it brought lasting change to Westbury?
