Scientists are still trying to determine what triggered a massive glacier collapse that sent ice plunging up to 1,300m into the valley below, setting off a destructive flood in Nepal. Glaciologist Simon Cook from the University of Dundee tells CNA’s East Asia Tonight that a warming event and snowmelt could have played a role, but stresses that the theory remains speculative. He also warns of continuing risks that could endanger rescue efforts.
