India-Uzbekistan Trade Nears $1 Billion

India and Uzbekistan elevated their relationship to a strategic partnership in 2011. Since then, bilateral ties have expanded across critical minerals, pharmaceuticals, education, information technology, and healthcare. Parliamentary friendship groups have also been established to strengthen parliamentary cooperation. India is among Uzbekistan’s top 10 trading partners. Bilateral trade and investments are close to US$1 billion, reflecting growing business confidence. Major Indian investments are in pharmaceuticals, amusement parks, automobile components, education, and hospitality. Uzbekistan is developing its rare-earth industry to move beyond raw material exports and create higher-value products through new projects, technical development, and international partnerships.
