Ukraine continued its strike against the Moscow Oil Refinery on Friday, after a wave of attacks set the facility ablaze on Thursday. Moscow’s mayor confirmed on Friday that over 30 drones were intercepted while approaching the Russian capital. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has threatened Ukraine with what he called “massive group strikes” in retaliation for Kyiv’s attacks against Moscow. Zelenskyy has urged Ukrainians to take air-raid alerts seriously.
On Thursday, the European Council was unable to reach a consensus on opening the remaining five accession clusters necessary for Ukraine to join the bloc. EU leaders, meanwhile, have agreed to extend sanctions on Russia for another 12 months.
