Indonesia is reviving exports of long-tailed macaques for biomedical research, setting a 2026 quota of 1,920 animals and opening a new breeding facility in Lampung. Officials say the trade could generate income for local communities and help manage human-wildlife conflicts, with the US currently the main export market.
