While U.S. President Donald Trump claims it was a “semi-routine visit,” CIA chief John Ratcliffe’s unexpected trip to Moscow has raised questions about the nature and purpose of his presence there. Shortly after Ratcliffe met with Russian officials, Belarus ordered a surprise combat-readiness review for one of its brigades.

- KYIV COURTS MUSK TO FACILITATE AIR DEFENSE CAPABILITIES
While Kyiv refrained from attacking Russia with long-range strikes during the CIA head’s visit to Moscow, he has since left, which means military actions have resumed, with Ukraine’s drones striking deep behind enemy lines. Ukraine is also seeking help from U.S. billionaire Elon Musk to help their military drones reach Russian launch sites responsible for attacks on Ukrainian cities.

- SWEDEN REOPENS RUSSIAN FROZEN ASSETS DISCUSSION WITHIN EU
Sweden’s foreign minister is urging the EU to reconsider using frozen Russian funds, most of which are held at the Belgium-based depository Euroclear. Poland strongly supports the idea.
