Twenty-seven years ago, an American teacher saw a Chinese woman on TV planting trees in the desert. He sent her $5,000. She planted 50,000 trees.
He got something money could never buy: A friendship, a purpose, and a new understanding of China. Now, Ronald Sakolsky and Yin Yuzhen have finally met in person. And the trees are still standing.
