Internet providers team up to close digital divide

A consortium of 25 community internet providers hopes to provide 30 million people with affordable broadband by 2030.

The focus will be on rural areas and townships.

The providers plan to pool resources and infrastructure to expand connectivity in seven provinces where access remains limited.

The announcement was made at the KwaZulu-Natal launch of government's Sustainable Connectivity and Community-led Digital Economies Programme, in partnership with the UK government.
