US-Syria relations : US removes Syria from state sponsors of terror list

The United States has removed Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism after nearly five decades, reopening access to global finance.

It could reconnect banks to SWIFT and correspondent banks, lower costs and attract investment.
Business owners say past restrictions forced costly workarounds; a returning entrepreneur has committed $3m to a structural and ballistic glass plant.
