Alleged cartel member, Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala's testimony continued at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, after his legal team paused his application on his right against self-incrimination.
Matlala nonetheless, held onto this privilege and exercised his constitutional rights by refusing to answer questions relating to allegations surrounding suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi, former Police Minister Bheki Cele, the delivery of impalas to Lt-General Shadrack Sibiya, whether he was induced to give false testimony before the Ad Hoc committee, and more.
Matlala is at the centre of allegations that informed the establishment of the Madlanga Commission, which is probing the extent to which alleged cartels have infiltrated the criminal justice system.
