Tokayev consolidates power in Kazakhstan | Eastern Express

Kazakhstan’s newly formed Adilet Party has won 71.17% of the vote in preliminary results from the country’s first Kurultai election.

The ballot inaugurated a 145-seat unicameral parliament created under the new constitution. Adilet absorbed the former ruling Amanat party, giving President Tokayev a new political vehicle backed by the old establishment’s nationwide machinery. Four smaller parties crossed the five-percent threshold, although each is broadly supportive of Tokayev’s government.
