Ruto: Uhuru declined call to support new national vision for Kenya

President William Ruto says he tried reaching out to former President Uhuru Kenyatta to seek his support for a new national vision for Kenya, but he declined. Speaking in an interview in Nairobi, Ruto said he personally sought out his predecessor’s backing based on the desire to have senior leaders work together to develop a long-term vision for Kenya. The President said his predecessor had an option to remain as a statesman but has opted to oppose his administration.
