NDR 2026: Water taxi, undersea tunnels to possibly connect Singapore’s outer islands to mainland

Singapore will improve connectivity to its outlying islands, said Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in his National Day Rally speech on Sunday (Aug 23).

A people mover system will be developed to link the mainland, Sentosa and Brani islands. Water taxi services are also being explored, noted Mr Wong.

And in cases where building roads will interfere with shipping channels, like for Pulau Tekong, Singapore is studying whether undersea tunnels are feasible. #NDR2026 #singapore #sgnews
