Swift ICG Rescue Saves Nine Fishermen #IndianCoastGuard #MaritimeSafety

Indian Coast Guard ship C-448 from New Mangalore successfully carried out a swift night-time Search and Rescue operation on 22 August 2026.

A fishing vessel, Kaarunyam (IND-TN-15-MM-7971), went adrift 20 nautical miles off the Karnataka coast after an engine failure. Battling rough seas, the ICG team located the vessel and safely rescued all 9 crew members, bringing them to Mangalore Old Port.
