Alcohol use during pregnancy raises concerns

New research commissioned by AWARE.org has found concerning beliefs around drinking and pregnancy.

The research found that more than a quarter of Northern Cape respondents, believe drinking traditional beer during pregnancy, can result in a lighter-skinned baby.

The non-profit says these notions could undo the good work being done to lower the rates of Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.

FASD is a life-long condition caused by alcohol exposure during pregnancy.
