I was called to jury service on a major civil case recently. The judge questioned me in the voir dire process. I answered absolutely honestly. I was released from jury service immediately. I think it's past time that courts hire professional jurors. They can still be questioned by attorneys and the judge during voir to choose a jury from a pool of professionals. That way ordinary citizens would not have to miss work, employers wouldn't suffer and potential citizen juries would not be subjected to ridicule and danger because of how they vote in a case.
