Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese president, paid a state visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) from June 8 to 9 at the invitation of Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the DPRK. In a one-on-one conversation with CGTN host Tian Wei, Zheng Jiyong, dean of the Institute of Regional Studies at Tianjin Foreign Studies University said that this visit is not only a major milestone in the development of relations between China and the DPRK, but also a significant move in China's diplomacy with neighboring countries. #commentary
