India’s Free Trade Agreement with New Zealand is a historic step aimed at strengthening economic power and global supply chains, not just trade.

It will boost India’s manufacturing and labor-intensive sectors like footwear, textiles, clothing, and handicrafts, creating major employment opportunities.

While New Zealand is a small but high-income country, this agreement is as significant as India’s deals with the US, UK, and Europe in terms of economic impact.

The government has ensured that Indian farmers are protected, with agriculture and dairy kept out of the agreement. Instead, the focus is on technology exchange and zero-duty export opportunities for farmers.
