Community halts Sibanye-Stillwater's plans to demolish recreation centre

Sibanye-Stillwater's plans to demolish the Mooinooi Recreation Centre in Mooinooi in North West have been suspended following relentless civic pressure.

The planned demolition of the largely neglected and dilapidated facility, was challenged and rejected, for limiting recreational activities and access to aquatic sports.

The community believed the move would have further disadvantaged sports development in struggling communities.
