Ngugi wa Thiongo’s Matigari ma Njirungu is set to return through theatre

Forty years after it was first published, Ngugi wa Thiongo’s Matigari ma Njirungu is set to return to the Kenyan public, this time through theatre. East African Educational Publishers, the rights holders of the novel, have entered into a licensing and partnership agreement with Kwa Ndego Creative Hub to adapt the acclaimed work for the stage. Published in Gikuyu in 1986, Matigari tells the story of a man who emerges from the struggle for independence in search of truth and justice, only to encounter a society still grappling with inequality and oppression.
