Mafefe residents call for government to rehabilitate old asbestos mines

Residents in the Mafefe area outside Burgersfort in Limpopo are calling on the government to rehabilitate the old asbestos mines.

They are facing health risks due to asbestosis.

The area was home to asbestos mines. The last asbestos mine closed in 2002. This after being in operation for over 40 years.

Residents are concerned that the asbestos mines were not fully rehabilitated.
