China summer camps: Govt expands national education in AI technologies

China’s rapid push into artificial intelligence is fuelling a boom in children’s summer courses, with demand rising as the government works to make AI an essential part of the school syllabus by 2030.

In Hangzhou, home to the 'Six Little Dragons' of China’s tech sector, students tour firms and take hands-on classes. While some costly camps draw criticism for inflated claims, trainers here emphasise inspiration and a thoughtful human-AI relationship over mastery in days.
