Police arrest teen for child abuse material: Gugu Xaba

The SAPS, working with international law enforcement agencies, have arrested a 16-year-old in Malmesbury, Western Cape, on suspicion of accessing, possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material linked to the violent online network known as '764'.

The arrest follows an intelligence-led investigation by the SAPS National Serial and Electronic Crime Investigations Team.

A preliminary search of the teenager's devices allegedly uncovered images and videos depicting child sexual abuse and animal mutilation, while several child victims have reportedly been identified.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Malmesbury Magistrates' Court.
