A German court on Tuesday sentenced a Ukrainian man to 15 months in prison for espionage after finding him guilty of helping to plan arson attacks on behalf of Russia. Two other Ukrainian defendants have been acquitted.

The EU is set to ramp up pressure against Russia by changing the way it rolls out sanctions. The bloc’s top diplomat said she wants to deploy targeted monthly sanctions to avoid lengthy delays to new measures coming into force.
