Teen ‘Superman’ fights forest fires to save home in Indonesia's Kalimantan

On the outskirts of Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, one firefighting volunteer stands out against the charred landscape.

Rather than staying at home, 15-year-old Rudiansyah has joined his father and local volunteers in firefighting efforts — all while wearing a Superman costume, the 10th-grader told Reuters on Friday (Aug 14).

Indonesia is facing a longer and more severe dry season this year as El Niño intensifies, raising the risk of drought, forest fires and air pollution.
