IFP reflects on SA's democratic gains, challenges

When young people cannot see a path forward, the promise of freedom fades.

That's according to IFP leader, Velenkosini Hlabisa.

He was speaking at the party's commemoration of Freedom Day in Westonaria, Gauteng.

The party reflected on South Africa's democratic gains and the challenges still facing communities 32 years after liberation.

In his keynote address, Hlabisa said unmanaged illegal migration is placing pressure on public services meant for South Africans, while corruption and rising youth unemployment continue to rob communities of dignity, opportunity and essential resources.

He warned that freedom remains incomplete without safety, jobs and accountable leadership.

He told party leaders and supporters that the commemoration was not only to honour those who fought for freedom, but also to reaffirm the party's commitment to defending the Constitution, restoring ethical leadership, and ensuring that freedom delivers dignity, safety and opportunity for all South Africans.
