MP Kenneth Tiong asks why MSE ‘has gone missing’ on Maju Forest issue

Minister of State for National Development Alvin Tan rejected Workers’ Party (WP) MP Kenneth Tiong’s suggestion that the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment had "gone missing" on plans affecting Maju Forest, saying decisions are made collectively across the government.

Responding to Mr Tiong in parliament on Tuesday (Aug 4), Mr Tan said the challenge is to balance housing needs with the conservation of heritage and ecological sites through careful planning and trade-offs.

Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu added that ministers present a united government position and that if a WP member was “hoping for a fight between ministers”, they would be "disappointed". #singapore #sgnews
