Over 1.7 million citizens engaged with the IEC during final voter registration weekend

The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) says approximately 1.7 million citizens engaged with the IEC during the second and final voter registration weekend, either by visiting registration stations or using the online registration portal.

Addressing the media in Centurion, Chief Electoral Officer, Sy Mamabolo, says of the recorded transactions, 16 % were people registering for the first time.
