Brown Mogotsi case witnesses' details ordered not to be disclosed

The Johannesburg Magistrate's Court has ordered that the names and addresses of witnesses in the case against alleged political fixer Brown Mogotsi not be disclosed, for security reasons.

This after the defence complained that it had not been provided all the witness statements, and that the names and the addresses were redacted.

It argued that this would prejudice Mogotsi in preparation for his trial. Mogotsi faces charges of perjury, defeating the ends of justice, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

He is accused of staging an assassination attempt on his life in Vosloorus, in November 2025.

The matter has been postponed to 20 August 2026.
