A Sudanese refugee found home through football in Spain | Al Jazeera Originals

“We found our own small Sudan.”

In Madrid, Aboubaker, a young Sudanese refugee, found more than a football team.

Through Casa del Sudan, a non-profit organisation supporting the Sudanese diaspora, football became a way to reconnect with his culture, build lasting friendships and find a new family far from home.
Wearing Sudan’s national colours, the players have created a space where they can remain connected to the country and people they left behind.
