LGE 2026 | Actonville Hostel residents flag overflowing sewage and crumbling buildings

South Africans are still heading to voting stations across the country, as the final voter registration weekend gets under way ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.

This is an opportunity for eligible citizens to register, verify, or update their voting information before the November polls.

All 23000 voting stations are open nationwide, allowing residents to ensure they are correctly registered to vote.

SABC News reporter Nomvuyo Ntanjana is at the Actonville Hostel near Benoni, on the East Rand of Gauteng, where residents say living conditions are unbearable due to the dilapidated state of the hostel and ppor sanitation and raw sewage flowing in the building premises.
