NWU Gallery presents Umzila (The Legacy), an exhibition facilitated by Thandeka Mfinyongo

Thandeka Mfinyongo is an African musician, scholar, and lecturer in African Music and Ethnomusicology at North-West University.

Umzila, The Legacy is her latest exhibition that explores instrument-making as an artistic, academic, and archival practice through the Xhosa musical bow, uhadi.

She invites the public to understand the instrument as a memory-evoking object that carries Indigenous knowledge, identity, and histories through both sound and material form.
