Concern over new Gauteng NPO funding regulations

Non-profit organisations across Gauteng are facing new restrictions under revised Service Level Agreement (SLA) clauses introduced by the Gauteng Department of Social Development.

The updated 2026 SLA prohibits NPOs from appointing foreign nationals unless they are vetted and comply with all necessary documentation.

The new regulations also requires key governance positions, including chairperson and treasurer, to be held by South African citizens.
