Sandulela Asanda on directing Black Burns Fast

Black Burns Fast is a queer and quirky, coming-of-age film, set at a prestigious boarding school in South Africa.

17-year-old Luthando is on track for a normal academic year, until Ayanda arrives at the school and forces her to rethink everything.

The film is released nationwide in cinemas, following its international festival screenings including the 76th Berlin International Film Festival in February 2026.
