Europe’s farming sector is feeling the growing impact of conflict in the Middle East as fuel and fertilizer prices continue to rise.

Farmers across Italy and other parts of Europe say soaring diesel costs, fertilizer shortages, and economic uncertainty are making it increasingly difficult to keep prices affordable while staying profitable.

The crisis has intensified after continued tensions around the Strait of Hormuz , a critical global shipping route through which large amounts of oil, gas, and fertilizer supplies normally pass.
Workers, farmers, and market operators warn that if disruptions continue, Europe could face even higher food and energy costs in the months ahead.
