This sunken barge leaked oil for 26 years. Then crews raised it from the depths

On July 30, 1996, crews lifted a sunken barge out of the waters off Prince Edward Island’s North Shore. The Irving Whale sank in 1970, and was leaking oil and dangerous chemicals called PCBs on a daily basis. CBC P.E.I. takes a look back at the leadup to the salvage and what happened on the day.
