*Suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi has been arrested in connected with his alleged involvement in the 2023 theft of precious stones valued at just under 15-million rand.
He is the fifth and last suspect to be arrested in the matter.

*Three people have been killed after a minibus taxi overturned at Hilltop between Barberton and Mbombela in Mpumalanga.
Four of the passengers are critically injured, and six sustained slight injuries.
The injured passengers were rushed to hospital.

*Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille says former President Nelson Mandela will always be revered as a global icon.
De Lille spoke to SABC News on the sidelines of the exhibition hosted by the University of East London to honour the late statesman.

*Twenty schoolchildren died when the bus carrying them crashed on the way back from ​a trip to some waterfalls in eastern Uganda.
The government has now banned all school excursions as calls rise for better safety standards.
