During the proceedings, BJP MP Ashokrao Shankarrao Chavan sought to know whether biodiversity finance mechanisms under the Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework would specifically benefit Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), including the Kolam community in Maharashtra.
Responding to the question, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav said that the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework provides a global roadmap to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030.
