The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has commenced proceedings against Optus Mobile in the Federal Court for their 18 September 2025 network outage. This outage hindered Optus mobile users accessing emergency call services.
ACMA alleges Optus breached two legal obligations more than 1,000 times during this outage.
In a statement, an Optus spokesperson said it would not be appropriate to comment on the legal proceedings, but the telco remained focused on "building a stronger and better Optus".
