Governance failures delay Thornham upgrades

Concerned community members of Thornham in the Eastern Cape have alleged governance failures and financial mismanagement within the Sarah Baartman District Municipality's upgrading of the Thornham Informal Settlement in Tsitsikamma.

The allegations include irregular expenditure and inadequate public participation amongst others.

They further claim that repeated attempts to obtain answers from the Sarah Baartman District Municipality have been unsuccessful.

The community is calling for government to halt the project and investigate mismanagement.
