Matlala Trial | Accused number 5's counsel withdraws from trial

A state witness in the trial of Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala and four others, has told the High Court in Johannesburg that he could not apply for a search warrant on the day accused number one, Musa Kekana, was arrested, because he did not have enough information.

Police officer Captain Phimi Sekgobela is being cross-examined in a trial-within-a-trial, in which alleged hitman, Musa Kekana, is challenging the admissibility of evidence obtained during his 2024 arrest.

Kekana claims that his arrest, and the search and seizure of items on the day, were unlawful because there were no arrest or search warrants.
